Professor Neil Ferguson, a key architect behind the U.K.’s coronavirus response, resigned on Tuesday after admitting to an “error of judgment” by allowing his married lover to visit his home despite the country’s strict lockdown rules, according to The Telegraph.

After the news broke, Ferguson got flamed from all sides: The U.K. health secretary said his actions were “extraordinary,” Scotland Yard said it was “plainly disappointing,” and the prime minister’s office told the BBC he was right to resign as social-distancing rules serve “a very clear purpose.”

Tesla’s TSLA, +5.25% Elon Musk, a very vocal critic of the lockdown rules in the U.S., took it up a notch when he called out Ferguson on Twitter TWTR, +3.50% as a “tool” and an “utter moron” who “has caused massive strife to the world with his absurdly fake ‘science.’”
