cult. His article, After Communism, The New Yorker, Reflections, 10 September 1990, page 91, was his attempt to restore, “the honorable title of socialism,” after the
collapse of the Soviet Union. He envisioned socialism being reborn by destroying
capitalism and restoring central planning to mitigate, “the ecological
burden that economic growth is placing on the environment.”
